Get Back Your Sparkling Smile and Good Oral health with Dental Implants

Oral hygiene plays an important role in maintaining healthy teeth. The hardships of lost teeth can be substantial, as it affects daily activities like eating, smiling and decreases the aesthetic appeal of a person. Apart from the above mentioned problems it leads to various other oral problems like, jaw bone deformation and loss of gums. The most common solution to this issue is dentures but it doesn’t cover all the problems. With the advancement in modern dentistry, new and reliable dental solutions are developed. Dental implants is one such example of advancement in dentistry. It provides reliable, durable and long lasting support for teeth and gums.

    What is dental implant?

A Dental Implant is a titanium fixture that is positioned inside the jaw bone with the help of surgery. Unlike a denture it doesn’t get loosened and falls out of your mouth. It fills in the void created by loss of a tooth or the entire set. It benefits oral health greatly because they does not affect the other surrounding  teeth.

Comparison between Dentures and Dental Implants:

A denture is a traditional method used to fill in the gap of missing teeth, but it cannot eliminate all the problems that arise after teeth loss. The people who wear dentures may experience receding of gums and bone degeneration.

Implants, on the other hand, are made of titanium posts embedded deep into your jaw bone. It strengthens the growth of bone and thus, helps in restricting the after effects of teeth loss. Since, it completely gets rooted deep inside the jaw bone, it provides a secure base for an artificial tooth. One can immediately reap the benefits of their replaced teeth without worrying about any damage. Success rate of dental implant versus dentures are much higher.

    Procedure Involved:

The procedure of this implant is carried out under sedation or local an aesthetic to make the treatment comfortable for the patient. Tooth will be extracted if necessary prior to the treatment. Before the titanium posts are instilled in your jawbone, some time is given for the area to heal. The artificial tooth is placed over the fixture to fill in the gap. This procedure doesn’t take more than one day, the end results will give you a natural feel and look.

    Recovery Time:

After the surgery, patients might feel discomfort or a tingling sensation on the treated area. However, this uneasiness subsides within one to two days. Medication will be prescribed by the dentist if patient face minor bleeding or swelling up of gums. If the soreness in the treated area doesn’t subside visit your dentist.

Healing time for seating and fitting of crown might take 2 months, while a surgical implant might take more than 3 months or more. However, the healing time for this treatment might vary on the treatment of the patient.

    Maintaining the implant

It is important to clean your replaced teeth regularly. Plaque or Bacterial bio film gets accumulated on the crown like it does on the natural teeth. There is a greater chance of infection on the crown if it is not cleaned on a daily basis. Patients these days, prefer dental implant for tooth replacement because of their higher success rate.

Selecting the right treatment is very necessary to maintain a good oral health. Dental implant has stood to be one of the popular treatments in recent years.
